How to Practice for HSK 1
The single biggest mistake candidates make is studying the vocabulary list in isolation, then freezing when they hear the same word in a full sentence. Active practice — typing the word from audio, recognizing it in context, then using it in a short reply — is what locks the vocabulary into long-term memory.
- Set a 4-week target. Most learners with 30 minutes a day pass in 4–6 weeks.
- Drill the 150 words in batches of 15–20 per session, with audio.
- Practice listening dictation — hear a word, type the pinyin. This mirrors the real listening section.
- Take a full timed mock test in week 3 to find your weak spots.
